Stop Amazon
Why you shouldn't buy from Amazon
Why you shouldn't buy from Amazon
Amazon was once a great way to add new books to your catalog, but what are they now? A monopoly, mega corporation, the new all encompassing power above us all. How big does one corporation need to be? A one stop shop destroys small business and small business is the American Dream. Without the ability to open a store we are slowly losing the freedoms of what being a small business owner means, being your own boss and giving back to your community. Amazon has taken away so many opportunities for Americans and, in return, have only given them one option, go work for Amazon.
When I say "Buy Local" I don't mean go to your local Wal-Mart or grocery store, I mean put in a touch of effort to buy something made and manufactured in your town or state or, at the very least, Made in America. Spending the few extra dollars on something made here in America goes a lot farther than making the richest company in the world even more rich. It provides new jobs and opportunities for your neighbors and growth for your community.
I cannot speak for every business that makes their products here in the States, but in my experience it has been far more cost effective to buy from here. It may be more expensive, but the quality is higher, the customer care is better, which means your money is going farther. Customer representatives are more relatable to you and make sure to fix the problem at hand. They appreciate your business and value you as a customer because they know they cant compete with Chinese made products, so they go above and beyond to ensure the best product possible.
Slavery still exists, and guess what, every American is apart of the problem. White, Black, Latino, we are all contributing to slavery when we buy products from countries that don't have child labor laws and labor laws to protect the people that make these goods. Imagine all the rioting and protesting that would go on if you found out that an American made company was paying children and women pennies on the dollar to make a product in a sweat shop to then sell that product for hundreds of dollars. Oh the outrage that isn't there. This is not some made up fact by me, there is more proof of this going on then there is proof that global warming is real. Yet we ignore it every day and still purchase our fancy phones for thousands of dollars made buy people who try to kill them selves at work thinking it will make Americans wake up. Everyone agrees that slavery is horrible, but when we think of slavery we tend to only think of Black Americans pre Civil War era. We all must open our eyes, you contribute more to childhood slavery then you have any connection to a former American Slave, yet you still buy that cheap crap online from Amazon on a daily basis. Now, I am not saying everything on Amazon is inherently bad and made in sweat shops, but things do not just become magically cheap without cutting cost somewhere and typically that cost is saved in labor.
Satisfaction is not guaranteed, more complaints are consistently coming out from people who work for Amazon. The biggest problem these people face are the golden handcuffs. Amazon offers just enough money to keep people working there, but like the sweat shops in Asia the workers are miserable. The sad part is, if the American people don't do something about it we will all know someone who works for Amazon. That may not sound that bad, but when you think about it they will have so much control over the market that there will eventually become zero competition for them. Wal-Mart struggles just to copy them. Imagine a United States where everything is purchased from just one company. It's not just consumer goods, it's entertainment, music and more, their empire is continuing to grow and if that does not scare you, then I don't think you understand the magnitude of the consequences.
I think this is pretty self explanatory. Shipping goods from the other side of the world (cough cough) China, uses an excess of fossil fuels to get those goods here. For example; when I buy sheets and linens from a local manufacture in Alabama and have them shipped to me in the south east, the transportation wouldn't even take a fraction of the fuel that it would take to ship a lesser quality sheet from Asia. The United States has a lot of regulations, some say too many, but never the less, I know when something is made here in the states it was made right, without trashing our planet, because remember, climate change is a global problem not a America problem.
I encourage you to delete the shopping app of your phone and be more conscious of where you buy your goods, buying local solves a lot of issues that we all care about. Put the power back in local communities and help SMALL Business grow!
JUST BUY LOCAL
